China telecom group co., ltd. is a large state-owned telecommunications enterprise in China and a global partner of the Shanghai world expo. It has been listed as one of the world's top 500 enterprises for many years in a row.

By the first half of 2011, China had 194 million fixed telephone users, 62.36 million mobile phone users (CDMA) and 61.74 million broadband users. The group has total assets of 632.2 billion yuan and 670,000 employees.

In May 2016, the state council was among the first batch of "enterprise demonstration bases" for entrepreneurship and innovation. In August, China telecom corporation ranked 29th in the 2016 China top 500 enterprises list.

On December 21, 2017, China telecom officially released an announcement that "China telecom group corporation completed the corporate restructuring". China telecom group completed its corporate restructuring and went through the formalities of industrial and commercial change registration at the Beijing administration for industry and commerce on December 15, 2017, the statement said. After the change, the enterprise type of China telecom group is changed from the enterprise owned by the whole people to the wholly state-owned company.

The company name was changed from "China telecom group corporation" to "China telecom group corporation limited".
